“Our house was small, and when you grow up with domestic violence in a confined space you learn to gauge, very precisely, the temperature of situations. I knew exactly when the shouting was done and a hand was about to be raised – I also knew exactly when to insert a small body between the fist and her face, a skill no child should ever have to learn. Curiously, I never felt fear for myself and he never struck me, an odd moral imposition that would not allow him to strike a child. The situation was barely tolerable: I witnessed terrible things, which I knew were wrong, but there was nowhere to go for help. Worse, there were those who condoned the abuse. I heard police or ambulancemen, standing in our house, say, “She must have provoked him,” or, “Mrs Stewart, it takes two to make a fight.” They had no idea. The truth is my mother did nothing to deserve the violence she endured. She did not provoke my father, and even if she had, violence is an unacceptable way of dealing with conflict. Violence is a choice a man makes and he alone is responsible for it.”
-Patrick Stewart

Just a nice reminder that in the midst of all this War on Women FUCKERY, there are men who stand up for and believe in the rights of women.

I really adore Patrick Stewart.

perfect, flawless man.

I will always reblog this picture.

All that wine for 20 bucks? Sold!

Okay where the fuck can you buy 8 bottles of wine for $20!!!

WALMART IS WHERE. In the States, anyway. :(

I know where I’M going when I’m on holiday in America!

Two Buck Chuck is carried exclusively by Trader Joe’s, afaik. (I think it’s only $2 in California; it’s $3-4 in other states.) Honestly, I’m not a fan. I much prefer their Tres Pinos table wines (red & white blends), which are $5 a bottle.

As much as I am down with this, “OK” seems like a paltry substiture for “AWESOME.”
Too bad “It’s AWESOME to be Takei” doesn’t rhyme.

missturdle:

what if I said I was a hopeless romantic but I didn’t mean like Nicholas Sparks and everyone has a soul mate and they go through sad things but then make out in the rain and all is well.

what if I meant like 1800’s romantics where I let people think I made a deal with the devil…

The moors are our backyard DUUUUUH

opium may be necessary for correct levels of romanticism

I had a lot of excellent ideas about this just now, but got distracted and forgot them after reading “person from Porlock” Wikipedia.

LIFE TIP: the cheapest drunk in Oly

At 1.29 per 24 Fl. oz of 10% ABV nasty, Dog Bite High Gravity Lager is the cheapest drunk in town at a rate of $.53 per fluid oz (pure) alcohol.

Bottom shelf liquor, in comparison, is generally around 5.95 per 375ml or 10.95 per 750 ml of 30-40% ABV nasty. This equals $1.08-$1.56 per fluid oz alcohol.

Forties, for a final comparison, are 40 oz typically around 8% ABV for 2.39-3.29-ish. This is approximately $$.73-1.02 per fluid ounce alcohol.

In conclusion, Dog Bite High Gravity Lager is the cheapest drunk in town by a healthy margin (healthy enough to absorb all but the most extreme price and proof variations).
